My version of the Rainbow Cake really puts the original to shame. I don't know what happened but the frosting wouldn't go on smooth, it just got all mixed up in the crumbly cake. I have to admit I actually cried when it didn't turn out great. I was having a bad day, okay? Anyway, it's still pretty inside and tastes like a dream come true. To me, that's all that matters now.
In case you haven't noticed (and as Kayley pointed out) it is not in true rainbow color order.
Don't you wish you could have a taste of my fabulously ugly cake? :)

I commented on fb, but I wanted to do it here as well. I think it looks great! Kayley would point out that it wasn't in true rainbow color order... haha. loves it. She's so much like you!
I was wondering what happened to the rainbow colors... I think it probably was just too heavy... I don't know how making a cake that fat is possible, but now I want to go out and buy the ingredients and see if I can do it!!!
ha i like your version. it probably was just still too warm when you tried to ice it? thats what happens to me when i'm over-eager with cupcakes. it is impressive though with all its layers.
Krista, another problem was that I didn't have a round pan that was small enough to hold the batter without it being too thin and burning. So I ended up using a rectangular shape and didn't think about the fact that it wouldn't have a base that could stand the weight of the layers. Hil, I did wait a while before frosting. I think maybe next time I will let them cook longer. You guys should try it and let me know how it came out!
Whoa, I just wrote a book.
shoot Steph, it looks delish! I'd eat that thang UP! :)
