A New Job, Lost Sleep and a Frog

Today I'm working at Kids Corner and I will be for the next couple of weeks. I've been hired as a sub for now. Let's hope I can stay on after my subbing is over or it's back to Montecito.

I'm very tired today. Cole has a high fever and he was up every hour last night. The funny thing is that he did not really complain about feeling bad, he just had a really vivid dream. I guess he was going too fast on his bike and injured his leg. He kept waking up and grabbing his leg and telling me it hurt. So I ended up sleeping with him practically on top of me on the couch all night. Oh the sweat, oh the backache. So now he's back in bed and I really don't know what to do since he obviously cannot go to school.

Today is my consultation for my other surgery. I'm anxious to get it over with. It won't be this week though. Four more days till our trip to Big Bear to celebrate six years of marriage!

Cole got to take the class frog Hoppy home this weekend. We took some pictures of Cole doing things with him to put in his picture album. Cole had so much fun taking care of him!

I'd say these came out pretty well for being taken with a camera phone.

Cole crashed out while watching Planet Earth. Hoppy napped too.

Hoppy even got to help pump gas!

A Better Day

So yesterday I was feeling a bit suicidal overly emotional about everything in my life. I had myself a good cry and today I'm better.

We had dinner with some new friends last night who also have small children and it just really lifted my spirits. While I was upstairs talking to Shanna I unintentionally caught sight of a lovely overweight woman walking around in her kitchen in her underwear. I mentioned the ugly naked guy from Friends and we had ourselves a laugh. Seriously though, a little scarred for life on that one.

Jen wasn't able to pick Kayley up today so Ashley said she would do it. I totally forgot to give her Kayley's seat and also forgot to mention that school gets out 25 minutes later on Fridays. If there was an award for people named Steph who forget lots of things I would win the gold. Sorry Ash!

Today was picture day for Kayley. Here are a couple of terribly washed out pictures I got before school.

I told her to smile sweetly.

This is her default silly face I guess!

So cute! I love her little legs that seem to get swallowed by her skirt!

I try...

...my best to keep myself from pouring out my sad heart via the blog world but right now I feel it's my best outlet. I'm freaking out over a huge financial problem that lingers and won't go away. I'm in limbo with my new job wondering if it will even start and wondering when I'll have to find another one that will pay enough to replace the pay I made with daycare. I've been going to the gym for 6 months now and can't seem to control my pathetic need to overeat so I can lose the ten pounds I want to rid myself of. The laundry piles, the dishes pile, the tantrums increase, the homework, reading, Cole's school, Kayley's school, being a wife, being a mom. I'm just spread so thin that I cannot stand it. I'm sad that there is a problem with the house at Big Bear so instead of staying there we have the apartment that's connected to the garage for our anniversary. I'm thankful that it's free but I wish that things wouldn't change at the last minute. And I really wish my friends lived closer.

Thank you Jesus because you're the one thing in my life that always remains the same yesterday, today and forever. And right now the only way I can actually convey that to you is through this blog and my tears.

Diving

Cole taught himself how to dive a couple of weeks ago. Here's the video Tyler took of it with his phone.

Uh Oh.

This morning I was inside and Cole was outside for five minutes.

No supervision + a very quiet three year old = a painting mess!

Ten On Tuesday

1. Cole told the guy with long hair at the front counter at the gym that he had funny hair. Why don't children have sensors?

2. I was getting ready for work yesterday morning and I tried numerous times to plug in my hair straightener. I even tried pushing the little button on the outlet and on the cord. Then I realized that my straightener doesn't have one of those reset things. I spent 2 minutes (seriously) plugging in my hairdryer and wondering why my straightener didn't work.

3. I made Cole stand in time out in the nude. He refused to put his underwear on and threw a mad kicking, screaming fit. What else was a girl to do?

4. I really enjoy working. It's nice to be completely in a different world for a while. It kinda lets me clear my head, ya know?

5. There are these pesky little guys in Kayley's class who keep putting hula hoops around peoples necks and pulling them while they're walking away. They keep bothering her every day and I've even said something to to the teacher about it. It's one of those things where I want to come and lay a nice hand print on those other kids' bottoms and hold Kayley as she cries her sad tears. But there is nothing I can do really except help her understand why some kids are bullies and help her build the confidence to kick their a's...I mean tell them to leave her alone. Some peoples children. Erg.

6. The man working on the unit upstairs brought his sleeping baby in an infant seat to work with him. That's so very strange.

7. I lost 1 1/2 pounds this week! It really helps to work and not be ten steps from the kitchen all day long.

8. The Lehrs are having baby number 7! Holy passing up the Prinzings, Batman!

9. I totally forgot to post these pictures Ash took in the summer when the kids and I met her and Jordan at the park for a bit.

10. I'm proud of myself for including pictures in my post.

Kayley's Poem

I've tried to get the kids to tell me what they like about school (by your suggestion, Kim) but I can never get it on video.

Kayley has decided that she has gone to school too many days and it's time to stop. She's tired and so is Coley. So early to rise and sometimes late to bed. When we are able we've been putting them to bed at 7 and they sleep the entire night.

Although she has been tired, Kayley has been a genius at memorizing her poem last week and this week. Here's last weeks'. She's clearly enthused (and wearing her shirt backwards).

It makes a mama proud.

Cole never ceases to say and do things that make me laugh and today was no exception.

Cole: "Mom?"

Me: "Yes, Cole."

Cole: "If I had a anchor on would it rip off my privates?"

Me: "Hahahahahaha!"

Ten On Tuesday

1. Anthing that can go wrong will go wrong.
Murphy's Law has become the theme for my life.

2. I worked today at my dad's office. I hate heels.

3. Kayley and Cole both got hurt so many times yesterday I wouldn't be surprised if someone thought I was an unfit mother.

4. I saw All About Steve last night with Lindsay and Krista. Very stupidly funny. Hanging with friends is fun. I will be sad when Lindsay goes home:(

5. Cole had to bring an apple to school today because they're painting with them. He told me on the way home "I'm going to be mad at Miss Evans. She wouldn't let me eat my apple." He really was mad too.

6. I was picking out band aids for my many wounds at Target and it was taking me a while to find the ones without latex (for some reason I've become allergic). Kayley told me "just close your eyes and put your hand out and grab one, mom. Let's go." Haha!

7. Ants have made their home in my pantry.

8. Stomper lady moved out. I'm scared to see who'll move in.

9. I let the clean laundry sit in a pile for over a week.

10. I think I might have to quit my gym membership. I barely have time to bathe, much less work out.

A Big Step for Coley

We took Cole's training wheels off yesterday. He did so well and went straight around the block without falling! What a kid!

I must also mention how great Tyler was with teaching him!

This video isn't very long but it does the job.

Here are a couple more pics of our fun evening outside.

Look Ma, no training wheels!

There he goes!

Ten On Tuesday

1. Today is my very last day of daycare ever!

2. I'm going to miss little Katie. I'm one of her pick up people at her new school so I'll still get to see her every so often. I really think she'll enjoy the structure that she'll have at preschool so I'm glad that's what Danielle chose to do.

3. Here's a picture I took yesterday of my little friend.

4. On August 25th, 2006 I started daycare. Today, September 1st, 2009 closes this chapter in my life. I'm amazed that for a season God opened doors for me to watch other children and stay home with my kids.

4. There have been some complications with my new job so I won't start next week as planned. I'll be working for my dad in Montecito until I start at Kids Corner.

5. Stomper lady is moving out!

6. It has been so humid and I cannot stop sweating!

7. My belly rumbles for Chipotle tonight. We're going with my grandpa.

8. Last night I almost got hit by a car and almost rear ended one.

9. Kayley is doing awesome in school, judging by the papers she brings home!

10. I'm proud of MckMama for asking for help via her blog.
