The First Day of School!

Cole started first grade and Kayley started third grade yesterday!

My first grader, all dressed up in Shaun White (he's all the rage) clothes and all ready for school.

Cole has the same teacher Kayley had in first grade. We are thrilled because her teaching style and patience level is wonderful for my dear son. Cole has been very determined to have good behavior this year. The teacher called yesterday afternoon and gave a great report!

Ready to learn!

When I asked Cole what his favorite thing about first grade was he said, "we get THREE recesses!"

All set for third grade! Please note the red converse. She wouldn't have it any other way!

Kayley's teacher is new to us. Thankfully she is a very nice woman who Kayley already loves! Kayley said that her first day of school was challenging. That's a great thing for my girl who whipped through her schoolwork lightening fast in second grade and twiddled her thumbs while the rest of the class caught up.

Miss Kayley at her desk and with her Daddy!

After we checked out Kayley's class she came along to check out Cole's. They are three doors down from each other!

The first day of school was a huge success! I can't believe my kids are getting so big. I don't know whether or not to be sad or happy!

What I do know is that this is Kayley's fourth year of school and this year was so much easier. We know what to expect with everything. The people and the schedule are already familiar to us, it's wonderful!

Update

It has been one hundred million years since I've blogged anything so I thought I'd holler at my homies and update some things.

We enjoyed a nice long week of vacation at Shaver Lake a few weeks back. Our three bedroom cabin was really nice (except for some crazy creaky stairs that made it impossible to sneak up on anyone). There was a tv in every room and I'm reminded why we don't have cable! I did enjoy having the tv for the olympics, though. We spent six straight days at the beach, on the boat, water skiing, laying out, drinking, eating, and being surprisingly active. I always think I'm going to rest on vacation but that's a big fat joke. Tyler and I even got in a date night where we consumed the world's tastiest salmon and I drank the world's strongest martini and spilled my water all over the table. Good times.

The kids are enjoying their last week of summer at the Y this week. They went to Hurricaine Harbor yesterday and had a blast! Kayley was really disapointed because her group consisted of a bunch of bratty 7 and 8 year old girls with no sense of adventure. So they went on all the little kid stuff. This is where the protective mom in me wishes to tell the little snooty girls to put away their magic wands and strap on a pair. But I digress.

Tyler recieved an award yesterday for doing a stellar job on a project at work. He is such a hard worker and I'm so proud of him! It didn't hurt that he got a $400 bonus, too!

I have a virus on my computer at work...again. I don't spend a trillion hours cruisin' through shady sites during the day so I don't quite understand the malfunction. Anyway, I had all my vacation pictures saved to the desktop in preparation to put them on shutterfly and now I have no access to them. How fun for me. Hopefully the highwatered tech people can rid my infected computer of the virus and save my pictures, too.

I always like to see how long I can spread out my birthday and this year it managed to last a week and a half. I had my office lunch a few days before, dinner on the day and girls day in Santa Barbara and family celebration a week later. Fabulous! I really did get spoiled. My hubby sent me beautiful flowers at work and bought me a massage and gave me money to go shopping. Thanks babe!

Me and the girls in Santa Barbara

Tyler and I will be celebrating our 9th anniversary in a couple of months! We have a trip planned to go out of town for a weekend in October. I'm so excited for time away with my main man. The condo we'll be staying in belongs to a client of ours at work and they are letting us stay for free! Kind of awesome, huh?

Speaking of free, I've been rocking the Target clearance racks lately. I bought seven shirts for $24 a couple of weeks ago. Four shirts were free, two were under two dollars and one was a full price sweater. Shopping success? I think so!

School is coming...nooooooo!!!
I've already done clothing shopping for the kids. Thanks to Krista for watching the kids while I helped them try on clothes. I'd also like to thank her for allowing Cole to wrestle on the floor while Kayley and I were in the dressing room. In Target. Oh, Krista. This is the first year I've had the kids try on clothes. I normally buy them whatever but they are starting to get picky. My rule is if they try it on and love it, they sure as hell better wear it. Thank goodness I got that over with. This weekend will be backpack, lunchbox and school supply shopping and they'll be all ready for first and third grade! I will be posting first day of school pictures so stay tuned!
