A Day In The Life Of Me

Krista suggested this witty blog post idea to me and, since it's so quiet around the office that you could hear a pin drop, I thought I'd give it a go.
(I actually wrote this a while ago but never did post it.)

6am- 6am is not a happy time since I'm totally a night person.
I read the Bible before getting up (and not as often as I should!)

6:15am-I finally get up, shower, get dressed, let the pup out to potty, feed the dog, make coffee, blow dry my hair, begin makeup application and make sure the dog isn't getting into trouble.

Then I make lunches (mostly prepared the evening before) and set them out for the kids and myself to grab on the way out the door.

6:50am: I wake up the kids. It goes a little like this:

Me: "Good morning! Rise and shine." (Then I sing).
Kayley: "Ugh, do I have to get up?"
Me: "Yes, honey."
Cole: "Hi mom!"
Me: "Hey buddy."
Kayley: "Do I HAVE to go to school today?"
Me: "Yes, honey."
Kayley: "Can I have five more minutes? Can I take the bed with me?"
Me: "Three and no."

During the time Kayley is trying to convince me to strap her bed to the top of the car Cole has gotten up, gone potty, gotten dressed and is at the table ready to eat. Motivated by food much?

If we're lucky backpacks are packed with lunches and we're in the car by 7:35 and I've realized I left my coffee on the counter. Fail. Leaving at 7:40 is late, late, late because of all the stinkin' traffic. Depending on how happy/frustrated/patient I am the kids can play their DS on the way to school. Drop off is 7:45-7:50. I've blown Cole like 10 kisses and waved goodbye a million times and he finally starts walking to class. Such a momma's boy!

7:50: I'm on my way to Starbucks.
I don't go there often but when I do I usually see someone I know. This morning my dear Krista friend was there to greet me with her loud mouth and crazy talk.
Tall skinny peppermint latte retreived, and it's off to work.

Work: 8:30-5. It's not exciting, although sometimes old men flirt with me and I get to talk to some famous people. I also herd cats, per my business card.

Sometimes I also do dumb things just because I can.

5pm: Run out the door quickly. The childcare people charge you like $50 a minute per kid for being late.

5:33pm: I obviously drove too fast. It usually takes more like 40 minutes.
Sometimes I sit in the car preparing myself for what's to come...two hungry, worn out kids!

6pm: Arrive home and find my extremely attractive husband waiting for me. Kiss husband, feed dog, help Tyler make dinner, do homework and play with the kids, spend time with Tyler for five minutes, put kids to bed, watch How I Met Your Mother and...

...10pm: Sleep, finally!

This was my life before school got out a couple weeks ago. I think the craziness of our schedule makes me appreciate summer and my off days even more. Sometimes I dream of being a stay at home mom again but then I would never be able to sit in the hallway outside the office on a toilet not connected to anything. And how fun would that be??

Then and Now

2003

2012

I cannot believe we've been together almost ten years. It's funny how we both look the same but different at the same time.

Oh and when we took the first picture I'm pretty sure there was a Kayley girl sprouting. Ha!

Ten Today

1. It's summer time! Now if it would only just clear up outside so we can actually enjoy it.

2. Mr. Cole made this for his final project at school. He was one of four other kids who got special recognition. I think he did a pretty great job!

3. The last day of school was awards day. Cole recieved his gold medal for reading 3000 minutes throughout the year and Kayley recieved hers for reading 3500. Cole also got perfect attendence this year!

 Saying goodbye to Ms. Miller

Posing with grandma!

4. Wistie came down from Oregon for a visit for the first time in 3 years. All Tyler's siblings were together in one place, finally! It was a crazy couple of days with them here but I love them all!

5. This guy got a 4.0 last quarter. I'm so proud of him!

6. Cole was so excited to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach yesterday. The YMCA sure knows how to do summer camp!

7. Kayley was sick so I stayed home with her yesterday. I used the opportunity to take our pup in for her shots. When we got home she was so pooped.

8. This is my new motto. It makes me think of what I'm putting in!

9. A month from tomorrow I'll be in Shaver Lake, yippee!

10. In three weeks my friends will be here! I'm so excited!

New Life

So, I definitely got to see a baby being born today. It was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen. Aside from all the gross parts about giving birth it really, truly is amazing. Little Nathanael (pronounced nat-an-eye-el in French) was 8lbs, 12oz and healthy as can be! I'm so happy to be a part of his birthday!
