This weekend was so wonderful!

Krista and I spent the weekend at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad for women's retreat. We were upgraded to a studio suite with a kitchen, fireplace, giant tub and a washer and dryer. The room was so comfortable and Krista didn't even snore. I didn't sleep well, especially the second night because of a crazy ragin' party that was going on below us but I did have a very relaxing day on Saturday with lunch out, manicures, a bubble bath and a nap.

The meeting times were really nice, too. The speaker ended up losing her notes (her computer deleted them) so instead of talking about the seasons in our life she opened the mic to anyone who wanted to share what season they were experiencing. I was touched by some stories and saddened by others. Saturday we had some more time of sharing, too. All in all, it was a time of connecting with other ladies (in a church of 1200 that's kinda hard) and sharing and encouraging others who are going through the same thing. I know I was encouraged!

On our way home I got to see Joanna. I'm so glad we were able to get together for lunch since I miss her so. We went to the Olive Garden and instead of eating one breadstick like I planned I ate four and dipped them in alfredo sauce. Whatev, that's what my flexi points are for. I honestly don't know if I'll have lost weight this week since it's real hard to eat well outside of my normal routine. I'd say Krista and I make a pretty good weight watchin' pair though. We also went to Border's (since they're closing everything was real cheap) that day. We all know I don't read much so instead of books I got a movie for the kids, a water bottle for Kayley and an address book. I love it when I can get a blue ray for 12 bucks!

I came home to a clean house, no dirty laundry and a detailed car inside and out! I'm blessed in so many ways!

Here's a funny, sideways video just for kicks. For the record my kids were not forced to do this and they are not crying. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Ps. I wrote this post yesterday, weighed in last night and lost weight this week! Woot, woot!

Ten On Tuesday, Tyler Edition

1. Happy Birthday to Tyler! He's 28 today!

2. Today is his first day of school. Three years and eight months to go and he will have his degree and will get a fabulous job. And I will quit my job and be a stay at home mom. :)

3. School for Tyler means school every day of the week for Cole. I'm glad because the kid could use more structure. It'll be good for him and he loves it there!

4. Super dad is what I like to call my man. As strange as it is to have our roles reversed it is working quite well. Tyler is so great at taking the kids to doctor and dentist appointments, volunteering in K's class, assistant coaching t-ball, cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. I'm so thankful for him!

5. Tyler has been getting really good at flying his helicopters. We went to the park the other day and he was flying them so high. Some little kids got a kick out of watching him fly, too!

6. The medical paperwork for the Marines finally went through so he isn't required to run or hike right now. This is so good because he would come home in so much pain after keeping up with the other guys.

7. This weekend is women's retreat and I know it'll be hard for him with school on Saturday and stuff but he lets me have time away without complaining. What a guy.

8. We're having Oreo ice cream cake tonight to celebrate. I've been thinking about it all day and saving my points!

9. Tyler ran the sound tonight at Kayley's play. Kayley was so nervous but she did great! She told me this morning "at least when it's over I'll be done and I won't have to do it again!"

10. He's a great man with many talents, a great sense of humor and just about as weird as me. I respect him for doing what's right against all odds and I can't say how happy I was to wake up next to him on his birthday today. I love you so much, babe! Happy Birthday!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! And a very rainy one at that!

I'm very thankful for a new day and some time to rest before going back to work. I anticipate this week being as crazy or even more crazy than last week. Friday was the busiest, most stressful day of tax season so far. I even managed to make it to the gym that night. I busted my knee running on concrete a couple of weeks ago and for some reason my knee has dull pain in it when I'm finished exercising. It's very annoying.

We took a bike ride to McDonald's last night. The kids paid for their ice cream sundaes with their own gift cards. I love riding bikes as a family. I think it's one of my favorite things to do. I also had some Becca friend time yesterday. We did what we usually do: go to Cinnabon and get a cinnamon roll. But instead of consuming the 36 point giant one that I could put away easily we both had a smaller 9 point one. I'm starting to realize why I was overweight before, ha. Oh, and I don't know about you but my buns don't smell anything like cinnamon (for Kim and Hillary)!

After church the fam is coming over and we will consume Snapper Jacks together. What a fabulous lunch it will be.

It's Tuesday...

1. Tyler will be starting school next week! He will be going to ITT Technical Institute to study Electrical Communications Engineering. It's a four year program and he'll graduate with a BA. I'm so proud of him and I know he'll do great!

2. I lost 2.6 pounds this week bringing my total to 4.2 pounds. Yep, I'm happy.

3. Me: "Cole, where did you get that bruise on your arm?"

Cole: "Oh, I got some shots today at the dentist."

Ha. He had his kindergarten check up today and got five shots with no tears shed. What a kid. Thanks again to my awesome husband who takes the kids here and there and everywhere!

4. The time change has been wonderful. I love it being lighter later. I feel like it gives me more energy.

5. One tax deadline down, one to go! Four more weeks!

6. I'm sorry this is sideways. Does anyone know if you can flip a video? I can't seem to figure it out. Anyway, Cole's the batter.

7. Lindsay and Jen's baby showers were this weekend. It made me realize how hard it is for me to have candy, chips and dessert in front of me without consuming. So I consumed and I didn't feel guilty about it. I just counted that day a loss and moved on.

8. The title of one of my devotions this week was "to do or not to do is a really stupid question." The topic was priorities and Bible reading. It's important that I read the word of God and I pretty much always come up with an excuse why I'm too busy. So I've made a commitment to read every day, even if just for a few minutes. So that's my story.

9. That's all I've got.

Love the ears!

My motivation to blog has disappeared. That was apparent in my last post which I entitled "Ten on Tuesday" where I didn't write ten things and it wasn't Tuesday. I also feel like I never need to blog because of my giant Facebook thread with Hillary, Krista and Kim!

Anyway...

Cole had a game this morning. His team is getting better. They even did some plays today! I'm working on a post with t ball pictures that I'll post soon.

Tyler has drill and is out of town until Sunday so I did the grocery shopping this week. I forget how hard it is to do with kids in tow. I have two things to celebrate about this shopping trip. First, I didn't buy anything impulsively and second, I managed to buy more fruits and vegetables than ever before. I'm a lover of bagels but they're very high in points. So when I found bagel thins today I was so excited. For dinner I'm going to make bagels with turkey and cheese all melty in the broiler. Yum!

Tomorrow I have two baby showers to attend. That's a lot of junky food. We'll see how it goes!

Happy weekend!

Ten On Tuesday

I'm feeling rebellious today. I refused to do a ten on tuesday yesterday and I don't want to blog today either. I used to write about exciting things like running over dirty diapers with my car and potty training and trips to the park with daycare babies, broken bones and black eyes. But that is no longer my life. I feel like such a bore. But I know you have all been refreshing your browsers every minute or two hoping for an update.

Alright, I'll jump update.

Happy Birthday to my big bro, Tim, who spent his special day in boot camp last Friday. The good news is that he's almost done and graduation is this Friday!

Coley had his first t-ball game on Saturday. The weather was perfect and he was the cutest little dude out there. I'll post pictures when I can.

Is there such thing as work too much depression? If there is, I've got it. I mean, I don't even have the strength to play Words With Friends. And I don't even check my facebook after I get home from work anymore.

17 days until women's retreat! Krista has agreed to sleep in the bathtub and to get up early and bring me breakfast in bed. What a nice friend.

Lindsay and Jen's baby showers are on the same day. It makes me sad not to be able to be at both without rushing around. Oh the perils of having so many friends. Jk, jk, lol.

Tyler has labeled his upcoming birthday as his "old man birthday." I'm not sure when 28 became old. To me he's still a strapping young lad.

We sang this song at church on Sunday. I just love the words. It's my song for the week.
